Difaf SAL supports long-term environmental and water conservation initiatives that help communities protect the natural resources they depend on. These projects are usually long-term and cover major sectors (water, waste, energy, food, environment or what is known as WEFE Nexus) where our expertise and skill-sets were for both technical and social project components.

Sustainable Production in Water-Limited Environments of Mediterranean Agro-Ecosystem (SUPROMED)

Details
In a Mediterranean-wide consortium led by the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), SUPROMED was a project aimed at providing decision-making support to improve farming methods in Mediterranean agro-ecosystems through the introduction of technical packages and good agricultural practices. Difaf was responsible for the assessment of the socio-economic and environmental impacts of the project deployment in Lebanon, as well as for policy assessments and drawing up policy recommendations at both the Lebanese and the Mediterranean scales based on the project results.

Monitoring & Technical Assistance for EU Green Deal – Lebanon

Details
Assessments and technical support for EU Delegation’s Project Managers in monitoring ongoing green projects in related to the following four sectors: Water and Wastewater, Agriculture, Solid Waste, Biodiversity, and Energy with a total of 31 projects assigned. The objective of this project is to improve the overall impact and effectiveness of EU external aid projects related to the European Green Deal implemented all over Lebanon.

Piloting a Wastewater Monitoring Unit Bekaa Water Establishment

Difaf has led a team of partners to conduct a ten-month assessment, training and institutionalization of a wastewater treatment unit in the Bekaa Water Establishment. The aim was to empower and structure this unit in order to be able to continuously evaluate and monitor the status and functionality of the various wastewater treatment plants in the region.The work included setting up a complete wastewater lab as well as templates and procedure guidelines for the unit, still being used today. Difaf further performed a technical assessment of the five centralized public wastewater treatment plants under the establishment jurisdiction for informing the training on practical implementations.
